Cookie Season 2011

After this last week of December I’m unplugging the oven.
Cookie baking is addicting! The following cookies are making an appearance this season:

Sugar Cookies. I love the addition of lemon, so I add some fresh lemon zest and juice to this recipe – Soft & Chewy Lemon Sugar Cookies They are chewy and crispy!

Snowballs! The memory of these cookies sprung, up from my childhood I suppose, into my mind a couple of weeks ago so I made some. Perfect match to the memory! Delicious cookies… a favorite…

Chocolate chip cookies with oatmeal and walnuts. The back-of-the-bag recipe that I modify by throwing in about 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup walnuts, pecans, white chocolate chips and heath toffee!

Salad is going to taste so good all of January.

Felted Wool Butterfly! My First One!

Light, colorful and 3D! Made by wet felting and needle felting techniques. Very hands-on free form sculpting using wool. My first ever felted wool butterfly!

I’m going to make a lot more in different colors and attach them to felted scarves and other projects. This success has me jumping up and down excited 🙂

Custom Hollow Book Project Complete

I got a request for a custom book project at the beginning of this month and finished it tonight. As always, I cut the pages out by hand and then apply glue, let it dry, trim it some more and then paint it. Sometimes I add colorful paper. This one is a lot of black paint. The book is a vintage copy of Pet Sematary by Stephen King.

Felted Scarves in Full Swing

Recently I’ ve been busy making wet and nuno felted scarves out of silk and wool.

Experimenting with dye on silk has yielded some good results. Except for one – I found out that using any bleach on the silk pretty much eats it away quickly and turns it yellow. Oops!

Felted Scarves

The way the brown and gold scarf turned out really made me happy, as well as the purple one. Yes they are as fun to touch as they look – they are very soft. I started adding felted flower accents and think it makes them stunning. Check them out!

I made these two scarves to order last week. My Vampire Bite Scarf and my Woodsy Owl Scarf. Awesome as usual if I don’t say so myself.
